This is part of the 20 questions to close 2020 series. We suggest you to go through the series and reflect on your past year before you proceed.
Let’s bring it forward to the next year after reflecting on how you would connect the dots of 2020.
Looking back at this year, what are the things you did right and could be continued next year? Perhaps good habits you built up that helped you remain at your best? Maybe a good thinking process that led to the right decision being made?
How about things that should be stopped? Usually that involves habits that hurt your effectiveness or actions that could distract you from what matters. Are there any behaviors that you do which prevented you from adapting to changes, especially during this eventful year?
Are there anything that you wished you have done? Any new year’s resolutions you made last year but remained just a resolution now that the year is ending? On hindsight, anything that could be done yet you did not act on? It would be a good idea to list them as actions you should start doing in 2021.
The stop-start-continue exercise is a powerful tool to reflect on actions you took or didn’t take, and to improve in the future. I recommend you to keep your stop-start-continue items somewhere easily accessible, and come back to it from time to time in the coming year. You will notice meaningful changes to your behaviors.
