From now till the first day of 2021, we will be sharing 20 questions that help you make sense of what happened this year, recognize what you achieve and learned, and prepare for challenges ahead in 2021.
This is the 1st question of our 20 questions to close 2020. Click the link for an overview.
How would you put your 2020 into phases?
Estimated time required: 15 min
Take a moment and think about what happened in the year. Think of the key events, key changes, highs and lows.
Did you identify any themes common in certain moments? Perhaps a period when lots of things happen at the same time? Or moments when life seems stagnant?
Try to categorize your year into several phases. It could be as few as 2. If you come across many phasing ideas, try to limit your phases to not more than 5. Give each phase a heading, title, story name, you name it.
What would be useful for this exercise is to grab a piece of paper (or a digital note which you could really write on), draw a timeline from January to December 2020, and separate the timeline into phases. Keep this timeline, it will be a very useful tool for your year-end reflection.
Ask yourself these questions when you finish:
How do you feel looking back the year?
Was it difficult for you or easy for you? Why?
Take note of your feelings and share with someone you feel comfortable!
